When Takao, a high school student dreaming of becoming a shoemaker, skips school one day in favor of sketching shoes in a rainy garden, he has no idea how much his life will change when he encounters the mysterious Yukino. ● The Place Promised In Our Early Days (2004; 91min.)

Director:
Makoto Shinkai

Original language: Japanese

Subtitles: Georgian

Plot:

In an alternate timeline, post-World War II Japan has been divided and occupied by two rival powers. Hokkaido has been annexed by the "UNION" while Honshu and the other southern islands have come under U.S. occupation. Hiroki, Takuya and Sayuri are two young boys and a girl living in Aomori, the closest province in Honshu to Hokkaido.

These three young classmates become fascinated by the gigantic yet mysterious tower that they see across the Tsugaru Strait, promising that one day they will build and fly an aircraft to the tower to unravel its mystery. However, their project is abandoned after Sayuri's sudden disappearance. Three years later, Hiroki finds out that Sayuri has been in a coma for the past three years, a state that is somehow linked to the secrets of the UNION tower.

● Colorful (2010; 126 min.)

Director:
Keiichi Hara

Language: Japanese

Subtitles: Georgian

Plot:

"Congratulations! You have won our lottery! You are the sinful dead soul of one who is guilty of a terrible crime, but you have won the opportunity to return to the realm of the living and face its challenges one more time. But while there, you must recall the crime that you committed."

These are the words spoken to 'Me' by Purapura (an angel?) in the realm that exists between Heaven and the Underworld. Me had died and become a drifting soul in this realm. It was in this way that the soul of me transmigrated into the body of a junior high-school student by the name of 'Makoto Kobayashi', who had just ended his life by committing suicide. Me would live once again through a very special kind of "home stay" in the body of Makoto Kobayashi.

Makoto that has now been restored to life seems to be surrounded by a happy family environment, but in fact Makoto had despised his father. His mother is having an affair, and his older brother wouldn't even talk to his stupid younger brother, and looked down upon him. Furthermore, Purapura had told Me that the reason for the suicide of Makoto was that he had discovered that the girl in a junior class that he had a secret crush on, Hiroka, was earning money through teen prostitution.

Makoto had no friends at school, and his grades were the worst. However, the usual way Makoto interacts with the people around him such as a girl by the name of Shoko had been watching Makoto for quite some time, a boy called Saotome becomes the first true close friend of Makoto, his family and Hiroka, gradually begins to change due to the influence of the behavior of me. While Me is living as Makoto, various things occur.

And then, Me becomes aware of a "certain incident"...

A high-speed auto chase through the streets of Osaka ensues with Nishi at the wheel and several carloads of yakuza in pursuit, until Nishi's car swerves off a bridge and is swallowed whole by an enormous whale.

In the belly of the whale, Nishi, Myon, and Yan, meet an old man, trapped inside the whale for thin years. From there, with the old man as there guide the three re-examine their lives, and discover their ability to control their own destiny and realize true happiness.

The whale, sensing the end of its own life nearing, approaches Osaka bay and gives Nishi, Myon, Yan, and the old man a last chance to escape and return to what they left behind...

● Time of EVE (2010; 106 min.)

Director:
Yasuhiro Yoshiura

Language: Japanese

Subtitles: Georgian

Plot:

Two high school boys grapple with their own humanity in a world where people are serviced by androids distinguished from their masters only by the halo-like rings above their heads. Public mores, enforced by the shadowy Robot Ethics Committee, dictate that androids be treated like appliances, and those who empathize with their robots are branded as "android-holics." Rikuo and his childhood pal Masaki find their assumptions about androids radically challenged when they come across Time of EVE, a cafe where androids and people are treated as equals. Liberated from the strictures of the Ethics Committee, Masaki and Rikuo must confront old wounds of betrayal and grief, and are faced with decisions that put their friendship and families on the line.
